Photo backup that stays in your house

Backs up every photo and video from your phone automatically, with albums, a map, timeline scrubbing and face recognition. The mobile apps are good enough that people actually stop paying Google for this.

Installing it

Open the dashboard, go to Apps, press Add on it and apply the change. Or from a terminal on the box:

sudo homebox install photos

Where to open it

Open it at your box's address with that port — the dashboard links to it directly once it is running.

Good to know

• The first account you register becomes the admin — do that before anyone else can reach it
• The machine-learning container is the RAM cost. Stop it and you keep timeline, albums and upload; you lose face grouping and smart search
• The library on disk and the database are one backup, not two — restoring only one of them gives you a broken library
